The Baby-Friendly Initiative
Over the past few decades, awareness of the importance of breastfeeding has grown worldwide. In a 1989 joint statement, the WHO and UNICEF developed “Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding” to support the initiation and continuation of breastfeeding (citation from WHO)
